OKX Card review: 10% cashback is not the regular-user result
OKX Card has no issuance, monthly, transaction or OKX FX fee in the current EEA schedule. Its real return depends on using USDG, the 0.1% conversion spread, monthly cashback caps and an existing OKX VIP level.
Cashback requires USDG, not merely a supported balance
The card can spend USDC or USDG, but only eligible purchases funded with USDG earn cashback. USDC purchases still incur the 0.1% market spread and return no reward. Merchant-category exclusions and the calendar-month cap can further reduce the headline rate.
Current EEA cashback tiers
| User tier | Cashback rate | Monthly reward cap |
|---|---|---|
| Regular | 2% | €10 |
| VIP 1 | 4% | €300 |
| VIP 2 | 4.5% | €450 |
| VIP 3 | 5% | €1,000 |
| VIP 4+ | 10% | €1,000 |
Rates apply to eligible USDG-funded purchases. Current exclusions include gambling, insurance, professional services, digital content and applications, education, business support and government services. Refunds trigger cashback clawback.
Net cashback at three monthly spend levels
Net value equals the published tier reward, limited by its monthly cap, minus OKX’s published 0.1% market spread. It excludes stablecoin price deviation, tax, funding costs and any merchant or third-party effects.
| Monthly scenario | Regular net | VIP 1 net | Model note |
|---|---|---|---|
| €500 eligible USDG spend | €9.50 | €19.50 | VIP 4+: €49.50 net at 10%; all values subtract the 0.1% spread. |
| €1,000 eligible USDG spend | €9.00 | €39.00 | VIP 4+: €99.00 net. Non-VIP reward is already capped at €10. |
| €3,000 eligible USDG spend | €7.00 | €117.00 | VIP 4+: €297.00 net; VIP 1 remains below its €300 reward cap. |
Where OKX Card can fit
EEA users who already use OKX Pay, can fund eligible purchases with USDG and either spend no more than €500/month as Regular users or already qualify for a relevant VIP tier.
Where the headline can mislead
Regular users assuming 2% continues after €500 of monthly spend, USDC spenders expecting rewards, or retail users treating institutional VIP rates as generally attainable.
VIP cashback is not a retail upgrade ladder
OKX VIP status is determined by platform assets or trading volume, not by card spend alone. The lowest EEA VIP thresholds are already designed for high-value or high-volume users, so a retail cardholder should not treat 4%–10% as a simple paid upgrade.
For a Regular user, 2% cashback reaches its €10 cap after €500/month. Above that point, every additional purchase still incurs the 0.1% spread while earning no additional reward, so effective net return falls as spending rises.
Availability and practical limits
The EEA programme is available across EU countries plus Norway; Iceland and Liechtenstein are excluded from the published launch coverage. The card is Mastercard-based and currently spends USDC or USDG from OKX Pay. Insufficient Pay balance causes a decline rather than an automatic draw from other OKX wallets.
